Toya worked with a group of particle physicists, composers and software developers to create a website for the LHCsound project filled with illustrations that helped to communicate the complex content in a unusual and accessible way.
The LHCsound project started in earnest in January 2010 thanks to funding from the science & technology facilities. One of the main aims of the project is to attract people (particularly young people) to the results of the LHC experiments in a way that is novel and exciting.
The success of the website helped to secure additional funding for the project and has resulted in over a million visits to the site since its launch in June, and coverage from the BBC, Fox News, Reuters and many others.
Toya is responsible for the design and illustrations in all of the LHCsound communication materials, from the website to educational materials used in school workshops.
